Chronic Pain

You may have been told the pain is in your head, but persistent pain is real and deserves the right explanation.

Why Your Pain Persists

Persistent pain is different because the nervous system becomes more sensitive, making pain feel real even after tissues have healed—so pain no longer always reflects ongoing damage.

Who this is for

Why the usual approaches fall short

What we are honest about

Recovery from persistent pain is about building function, confidence and quality of life through a structured plan that prepares you for setbacks—not waiting for pain to disappear completely.

FAQ

Answers before you ask

Can’t find what you need? Call us on 0468 736 459 — a real person answers.

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?
No referral is required — you can book directly.

No. Scans image structure, and persistent pain is largely a processing problem. A clear scan is genuinely good news about your tissue — it does not invalidate what you are feeling.

Usually not, and sometimes they cause harm by attaching a frightening label to an incidental finding. If we think imaging would change your management, we will say so and write to your GP.

No. Graded movement is one of four components, and the graded part is what matters. Being told to exercise without a structured, individualised progression is exactly the advice that has already failed you.

Persistent pain has usually been building for a long time and does not unwind in three sessions. We will give you a realistic timeframe after assessment, along with the specific markers we will use to know it is working.

Not at all. It is offered, not required. Many people find it useful once they understand what it is actually for.

Book an extended assessment.

Bring your full history. We will take the time to understand what is actually happening and create a plan that moves you forward.
